When will I work?

The primary work hours for this position are 6:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Thursday, with overtime required as needed.  

 

Where is this opportunity located?

Position located in Brookings, SD in our Transportation Manufacturing department.

 

What will the work look like for me?

As a combined crew these groups manage millions of dollars’ worth of inventory and handle several customer shipments per day. The Production Team Lead in this area helps to oversee the flow of materials and components through these functions and align resources to meet the strategic and tactical goals of the organization in terms of on time shipments accuracy and quality.

  • Ensure safety during shift.
  • Effectively communicate work progress and constraints to leadership.
  • Perform weekly process audits to ensure standardization of processes and to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in determining staffing equipment and facility needs based on projected workload requirements.
  • Employee relations to include:
    • Effectively teach new employees or new operations to current employees.
    • Along with supervisor, evaluate employee performance and assist in their growth.
  • Lead cycle count activities to ensure compliance.
  • Handle miscellaneous requests, transactions, and questions. Work with appropriate departments to decrease the number of unplanned transactions.
  • Lead the team by speaking positively about and participating in Lean, 5S, Safety and other foundational concepts.
  • Communicate effectively with others and “lean in” to their preferences.
  • Accept feedback and act in ways that are consistent with supervisor direction.
  • Communicate expectations to and measure the performance of personnel.
  • Foster teamwork and self-improvement through effective communication with employees.
  • Monitor crew’s attendance and performance and report to management daily.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee information.
  • Maintain professionalism in working with all employees.
  • Develop and maintain standard work and training procedures for materials team.
  • Be able to develop metrics to be used as key performance indicators for inventory and shipping teams.
  • Be at work on time and maintain good attendance. Be able to work overtime as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

To be considered for Materials/Logistics Team Lead, we require the following:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Current or previous inventory experience preferred.
  • Required to work overtime when overtime shifts are scheduled.
  • Regularly and reliably work the scheduled hours.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and successfully participate as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work area in accordance with Daktronics Safety Policy and OSHA standards. Items may include safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, hearing protection, and electrostatic discharge wear. You will be provided with the PPE for the required areas.
  • Demonstrate leadership ability required and ability to train and motivate employees.
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new software. Proficient at using Microsoft, Word, Excel, OneNote, and familiarity with Glovia preferred.
  • Excellent math skills and attention to detail.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to:
    • Work in an environment with these types of smells: paint, solvent, and solder.
    • Frequently lift 35 lbs. Occasionally to frequently lift 45 lbs., in some work areas.
    • Stand for the full shift with planned breaks. The duration of standing between breaks varies from 2-3 ½ hours depending on work area.
    • Work from heights, including working from ladders and platforms.
    • Reach in all directions (up, down, side-to-side, and diagonal reaching), including some awkward reaching to insert components in difficult to reach sections of the product.
    • Maintain steady hand/eye coordination.
    • Identify wire and paint colors.
    • Read fine print.
  • Fluent in English, written and verbal.
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
