What will the work look like for me?

• Ensure appropriate inventory is ordered on time and at the appropriate volume to support the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Master Production Schedule (MPS). The buying function also includes expediting or de-expediting material as required by the MRP/MPS process and following the escalation process when issues arise.  
• Place purchase orders (POs) from preapproved suppliers, transfer orders (TOs) from other Daktronics factories, and work orders (WO) when scheduling production areas.
• Manage PO status, completing status calls and interacting with suppliers to ensure prompt inventory materials delivery.
• Ensure data problems are identified and resolved. Must maintain accurate systems information in support of MPS viability.
• Review item attributes through daily item review.  
• Review items to address excess inventory and create countermeasures to stop excess from accumulating.   
• Look continuously to improve ways we manage data and process paperwork throughout the factory.   
• Manage production schedules for a value stream within the factory.  
• Communicate schedule changes to the leaders of production areas.   
• Communicate schedule shortcomings and/or part shortages to Master Scheduler and Materials Manager.  
• Perform other duties as assigned and needed to meet Daktronics growth and customer expectations.

Where is this opportunity located? 

This position is located in Redwood Falls, Minnesota in our Redwood Falls Manufacturing department.  

What are the pay and perks?

The typical hiring range for this position is $23.00 to $24.00 per hour based on the location of Redwood Falls, Minnesota. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including relevant education, experiences, location, and applicable local legislation.

To be considered for the Buyer/Planner position, we require the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in Math, Business, Economics, Finance, Operations Management, or a comparable field is required. 
• Good computer skills.
  • Software includes Glovia, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to successfully participate as a member of a team.
• Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.
• Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

Desired traits

• Material/production control experience within a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Supervisory, business, and/or management experience preferred.
