Responsibilities will include:

• Develop application and solution expertise as needed to support assigned markets, regions, and applications:
  • Develop expertise in both display systems and control systems to form complete solutions.
  • Focus initially on the international transportation markets and applications, expanding into other markets and applications as needed.
• Help win orders by working with the sales team to identify and promote product solutions:
  • Support the sales team when needed by presenting technical content to customers in ways that are easy for them to understand.
  • Develop relationships with customers and industry stakeholders, influencing customer specifications to align with Daktronics capabilities.
  • Review customer requirements and influence specifications, working directly with customers and industry stakeholders when needed.
  • Determine potential product solutions to meet customer needs and collaborate with the sales team to evaluate and determine the best options that fit the needs of both customers and Daktronics.
  • Coordinate with the design teams to identify potential custom solutions when standard and tailored solutions will not meet the customers' objectives.
  • Develop product solution concepts and documentation as needed for tender responses and other customer submittals with an appropriate level of detail.
  • Instill confidence and trust in the customer as a trusted advisor while embodying Daktronics' core values of being honest, helpful, and humble.
• Enable and support the project fulfillment teams:
  • Support the project manager by supporting any technical interactions with the customer
  • Liaise between customers and Daktronics teams to resolve any technical questions or challenges that arise during fulfillment.
  • Present project technical requirements and commitments to design teams.
• Support Product Development:
  • Identify and share observed market trends that may influence future product development activities
  • Support product owners and product managers by bringing customer perspectives to product development definition, planning, and prioritization activities.

Where is this opportunity located?

Daktronics offers the flexibility of a hybrid work environment where you can split your time between your home office in Ireland and the Daktronics Ireland facility in Ennistymon, Co. Clare. A typical week will require 1-2 days in the Ennistymon office but will vary.

This position will be based on working during regular business hours in the Irish Standard Time, with occasional early or late hours required to collaborate with our global offices.

To be considered for Application Engineer we require the following:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline.
• 2-5 years of hands-on experience collaborating with customers to understand their requirements and tailoring product solutions to meet their needs.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Developing strong relationships, paying attention to customer needs, and delivering customer-centric solutions; positioning yourself as an expert and trusted advisor.
• Strong curiosity and drive for continuous learning.
• Strong interpersonal skills; can engage with multiple stakeholders and adapt communication style to be most effective; strong oral and written communication skills.
• Efficiently leverage diverse sources to gather the information and perspectives needed to get the job done.
• Team player; quick to offer help; supports the needs of our teams and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of Daktronics products, hardware, and software used in various markets is beneficial. 
• Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment. 
• Ability to travel by air and ground. Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Regular travel is required to meet with customers or partners, attend industry events, collaborate with Daktronics teams, or support other business needs.
  • Trips typically last from several days to a week.
  • Anticipated travel frequency is 5-8 trips per year or as needed.
  • Ability to travel internationally. Must be able to obtain the appropriate visas to travel to other countries as needed.
• Fluent in English, written and verbal.
