What will the work look like for me?

As a Marketing Copywriting student, you will collaborate with a team of strategists, copywriters and designers to create impactful content across print, digital and social platforms.  

You will be mentored by our marketing messaging copywriter and gain hands-on experience.

We are looking for someone curious and creative, digging into the details of the project to best communicate messages to the target audience.  

The ideal candidate will:

• Generate compelling copy that informs and inspires the target audience to act.
• Ask thoughtful questions and seek feedback.
• Participate in interviews with customers or subject matter experts.
• Collaborate with team members to complete various marketing media.
• Be comfortable with technology and eager to learn new software and processes.
• Consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Troubleshoot problems when they arise.
• Take on a variety of projects and pitch in wherever needed.   
• Continually learn about our products, customers and industry.
• Have a desire to grow into a professional marketing communicator.
• Communicate effectively with your supervisor and team members.

• Regularly and reliably work scheduled hours.

When will I work?

Applicants should be available to work approximately 15 hours per week (maximum of 20 hours per week) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.

Where is this opportunity located? 

In this position you have the flexibility to work remote from a South Dakota home office or at the Brookings or Sioux Falls, SD Daktronics campuses.

What are the pay and perks?

The typical hiring range for this position is $14.50 to $17.00 per hour based on the location of Brookings, SD. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including relevant education, experiences, location, and applicable local legislation.

Students with GPA of 3.5 and above may be eligible for a $500 Academic Excellence Reward for each spring and fall semester completed while employed.  Additional conditions may apply.

To be considered for Marketing Copywriter student, we require the following:

Academic Requirements:

• The preferred applicant will be a student registered in at least 12 credits.
• Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s degree program in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, or related fields.
• Preferred applicants will be in their sophomore or junior year of school and have completed writing coursework.
• Only strong academic performers will be considered and must maintain an acceptable GPA.
• Unofficial transcripts or web transcripts must be submitted with application.

Other Requirements: 

• Solid oral, written communication and organizational skills. Self-motivated and flexible with a desire to work both independently and as a team player. Attention to detail is a must.   
• Eager to learn with an innate curiosity and willingness to ask questions.
• Enthusiasm to work on new projects and flexibility to handle ever-changing priorities and responsibilities.
• General computer skills, including accurate keyboarding and the ability to learn and navigate new software and tools.
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
