When will I work?

  • 4/10s Schedule, Primary Schedule– The primary work hours for this position are 6:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Thursday, with overtime required as needed.  

Where is this opportunity located? 

Position located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in our Final Assembly department.

 

What will the work look like for me?

The Shipping Equipment Handler will perform various tasks in support of our shipping and crating team.

  • Effectively, accurately, and safely perform all shipping duties. 
  • Professionally interact and communicate with others, including internal and external resources.   
  • Preparation of documents for domestic and international shipments including bill of ladings, packing list, commercial invoices, certificate of origin, and others.  
  • Shipment preparation including pulling parts, packaging, and verifying per customer order.  
  • Load trucks by safely operating forklift, crane, and telehandler. Drive tractor trailer with CDL certification.  
  • Assist in movement and organization of finished goods. 
  • Complete and pass the crane, telehandler, and forklift certification within 90 days.  
  • Accurately perform shipping inventory duties ensuring completeness and thoroughness of transactions.    
  • Assist with damage freight shipments, customer relations concerning shipments, expedited shipments, and rate quotes. 
  • Must be flexible and able to change priorities when asked or needed to meet ship dates.
  • Learn the modular and technical construction of displays, interpret technical drawings, safely operate hand/air tools, and participate in a build team.
  • Learn Daktronics products systems and processes and assemble product in a safe accurate and timely manner.
  • Constructing crates by safely operating power tools and saws. Document weights, crated weights, and dimensions of equipment. Label crates with proper required details. List component and unit serial numbers for all pertinent items and displays.
  • Learn how to read and follow effective loading diagrams. Gather and file all pertinent documentation pertaining to each contract per Sarbanes-Oxley protocol. Become certified to operate cranes and other lifting equipment.
  • Work unsupervised safely and effectively. Must be able to follow instructions. Need to be able to work in a team atmosphere as well as individually.
  • Must be flexible to help in other areas of the factory, including inventory as well as manufacturing if needed.
  • Daily perform 5S and other Lean tasks.   
  • Preparation of documents and shipment of hazardous products.  
  • Become knowledgeable of company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

To be considered for the Shipping Equipment Handler role we require the following:

  • High School Diploma/GED required. Strong math skills and able to accurately record issues regarding BOM (bill of material) quantities.
  • Required to work overtime when overtime shifts are scheduled.
  • Regularly and reliably work the scheduled hours.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and successfully participate as a member of a team.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • Computer skills with Keyboard skills required. Prefer experience with Excel, Word, Microsoft Office, and Glovia ERP system.
  • Previous experience in carpentry or similar work is preferred.
  • Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work area in accordance with Daktronics Safety Policy and OSHA standards. Items may include safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, hearing protection, and electrostatic discharge wear. You will be provided with the PPE for the required areas.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to:
    • Lift and carry heavy (up to 50 lbs.) and/or awkward items. Be able to stand for the full shift. Must have the ability to work on a Flow Line keeping up with the pace of work and moving from one position to another on a minute’s notice. Kneeling to nail crates as well as climbing trailers and ladders are necessary duties.
    • Ability to use power tools and saws as well as nail guns. Work with some odors (paint, solvent).
    • Distinguish and identify wire colors.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to travel by air and ground. Valid driver’s license and good driving record. Motor vehicle records will be checked.
