When will I work?

The primary work hours for this position are 6:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Thursday, with overtime required as needed.  

 

Where is this opportunity located?

This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota in our High School, Park, and Recreation (HSPR) Manufacturing department.

 

What will the work look like for me?

  • Front-line of support for day-to-day production operations.
  • Respond to escalated production issues for assessment/diagnosis/resolution, escalating to next level process expert and production leadership as needed.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of product and equipment, assembly tools, fixtures, and jigs.
  • Assist with documentation of operation setup and maintenance procedures.
  • Assist in line setup and changeovers, including line/workstation layout, tooling/equipment/fixturing, materials presentation, and refresher training to operators.
  • Review and respond to Engineering Change Orders (ECOs). Review product Bill of Materials (BOM) and/or drawing to address ECOs.
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineers and Production Leadership in improving current processes and developing new processes.
  • Learn various software and programming systems; programming will include both off-line programming and adjustments on the line.
  • Participate in team and individual problem-solving activities.
  • Perform other tasks assigned as needed to fulfill customer demand and continuously improve.

Qualifications

To be considered for the Process Technician position, we require the following:

  • Two-year Associate degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering Technology, Robotics, Electronics Engineering Technology, or a similar technical field is required.
  • Regularly and reliably work the scheduled hours, including scheduled overtime.
  • Consistently complete quality work in a timely manner.  
  • Good communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and capable of learning quickly.
    • Learnings may include various software, industrial hardware control, and programming systems.
  • Willingness to receive feedback and make changes.  
  • Ability to successfully participate as a member of a team and interact with a variety of personnel in a positive, professional manner. 
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, effectively exercising discretion and independent judgment.
  • Ability to use hand tools to work on basic assembly and wiring of tooling and fixtures.
  • Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work area in accordance with Daktronics Safety Policy and OSHA standards. Items may include safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, hearing protection, electrostatic discharge wear, and others as determined necessary by Daktronics Risk and Safety Department. You will be provided the PPE for the required areas.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to:
    • Work in an environment with these types of smells: paint, solvent, and solder.
    • Move materials weighing up to 45 lbs.
    • Remain in a stationary position for the full shift with planned breaks.
    • Work from heights, including working from ladders and platforms.
    • Have full range of motion (including but not limited to bending and lifting).   
    • Reach in all directions (up, down, side-to-side, and diagonal reaching), including awkward positions.
    • Maintain steady hand/eye coordination.
    • Identify wire and paint colors.
    • Read fine print.  
  • Ability to travel by air and ground. Valid driver's license and good driving record. Motor vehicle records will be checked.
  • Fluent in English, written and verbal.
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

Desired traits

  • Experienced with programming, operating CNC equipment, and AutoCAD.
  • Able to document automation systems.
  • Possess basic computer skills.
