Daktronics, Inc designs, manufactures, and sells a wide range of display systems to customers in a variety of markets throughout the world. We focus our sales and marketing efforts on geographical regions, markets, and products. The primary categories of markets include Live Events, Commercial, Transportation, Schools and Theatres, and International. Daktronics manufacturing follows a focus factory concept paralleling these five markets.
This position will be involved with quality systems and will work closely with the Sioux Falls Production team and factory management to identify improvement activities, as well as support long term, corporate quality projects. This individual will report directly to the Divisional Quality Engineer.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership, and Performance:

- Assist with training of Quality Assistant/Technician.
- Work effectively as a team member; make suggestions for process and product improvements; communicate effectively with team members.
- Complete projects with quality work in a timely manner.
- Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work area in accordance with Daktronics Safety Policy and OSHA standards. Items may include the following: safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, hearing protection, electrostatic discharge wear, and others as determined necessary by Daktronics Environmental Health and Safety Department.
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed to support the efforts of Daktronics.
- Quality Management Systems:
- Support PTC Windchill Closed-Loop Quality Management; Non-Conformances (NC), Temporary Deviation Request (Variance), Corrective Action Preventative Action (CAPA), First Article Inspection (FAI), Incoming Inspection Status Change Request (IISCR) or others as implemented at Daktronics.
- Support compliance with various standards including IPC-600, IPC-610, IPC-620, RoHS, ESD and others.
- Lead the auditing programs for the factory. Ensure auditors are well trained, audits are documented and that they are being performed on-time.
- Quality Assurance tools and Process Improvement:
- Review and analyze existing processes and equipment operations to improve overall product quality, manufacturing capability, process control, and scrap reduction.
- Analyze and present data/information to support improvement activities.
- Prioritize, lead, and facilitate quality improvement efforts.
- Monitor and control nonconforming material and provide feedback to the provider of material (internal and external). Assist manufacturing with evaluation and disposition of this material and follow escalation process.
- Participate in Design FMEA and Process FMEA projects.
- Provide training to work groups on topics such as: 8-Step, DoE, SPC, FMEA, Quality Control Plan, etc.
- Support supplier quality activities such as first article inspections and supplier quality improvements.
- Support lean activities through active participation for those items that may affect quality.
