  • Responsibilities

    Every day, in nearly 100 countries around the world, millions of people depend on Daktronics scoring and display systems for information and entertainment. Our displays provide vital travel information in airports and train stations and along highways. They advertise the price of gas, store specials, and more as you make your daily commute. They also enhance spectators’ experiences at sporting events of all kinds, from Little League to the major leagues.

     

    Position located in Brookings, South Dakota. Candidates must be enrolled and registered as a full-time student. Ideal candidate should be available to work approximately 15-20 hours per week during the academic year and at least 20 hours per week during the summer.

     
    Daktronics Process Engineer Students are responsible for assisting in the design and documentation of computer programmable display systems and the sub-assemblies associated with these products. 
     
    • Produce accurate design drawings and documentation for projects on AutoCAD and/or Creo. Assist Engineers with design drafting bill of materials routing documentation.
    • Assist in documenting and checking components in AutoCAD and/or Creo.
    • Develop concepts and ideas for designs on AutoCAD and-or Creo.
    • Build and test prototypes.
    • Prepare detailed blueprints of sub-assemblies and parts.
    • Write operation sequences and bill of materials (BOM).
    • Help coordinate the manufacture of systems on project basis.
    • Assist with installations as required.
    • Work with little supervision, organize workload efficiently, communicate effectively with internal and external customers and make decisions concerning designs when required.
    • Perform other duties as required to support the mechanical engineers.
    • Ability to regularly and reliably work scheduled hours.

     

    Qualifications

    Academic -

     

    • The ideal candidate must be a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Agricultural Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or related degree in their sophomore, junior or senior year of school. 
    • Only strong performers in undergraduate coursework will be considered. 
    • Must maintain an acceptable GPA.
    • Class graduate or work experience with AutoCAD and/or Creo required.
    • Knowledge of general drafting practices required.
    • Unofficial Transcripts or Web Transcripts must be submitted with application to be considered for this position.

    Other -

    • Good communication skills.
    • Computer skills and knowledge essential.
    • Knowledge of Daktronics products preferred.  Daktronics manufacturing experience a plus.
    • Ability to travel by air and ground. Good Driving Record. Motor Vehicle record will be checked.
    • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
    • Background check may be conducted
