    Internship runs January 2019 through August 2019.


    Daktronics in Redwood Falls, MN is a leading edge manufacturing facility housing Surface Mount Technologies (SMT), LED display technologies, metal fabrication, paint and packaging. We are seeking a dedicated and highly motivated individual who is interested in developing professionally, and is drawn to being able to play an active role in the world’s leading manufacturer of Large Format Electronic Display Systems. As a Test Engineering Intern, you will support configuration and testing of new products and improve effectiveness and performance of existing products. You will have the opportunity to own projects and participate in team projects.


    Responsibilities include:

    • Support engineers in ensuring Daktronics product is being manufactured in accordance with requirements.
      • Problem solving of issues impacting daily production (issues with equipment, material or design).
      • Work as a liaison between manufacturing and divisional engineering (Hardware Design, Software, etc.) to develop and/or improve test and configuration processes.
    • Prototype and verify new products.
    • Test and troubleshoot existing products.
    • Design and implement test fixtures for products, and document procedures for operation.
    • Support efforts to improve effectiveness of automated equipment.
    • Develop or support processes that write/image firmware & software into control systems (media players, communication devices, LED display systems).
    • Assist with employee training on product testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and testing equipment operation.
    • Work with little supervision. Complete quality work in a timely manner. Communicate effectively.
    • Work as an effective team member.
    • Be at work on time and maintain good attendance. Follow Company guidelines and policies.
    • Perform other projects and duties as needed to meet customer expectations.

    Academic Requirements –


    • Preferred applicants will be full-time students of at least junior status currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Engineering Degree.
    • Required to take a semester off from school to pursue the internship. Duration of internship will be a summer and a semester or a semester and a summer.
    • Must be able to commit to 40 hours per week.
    • Work through the Cooperative Education Internship Program with accredited university and Faculty Coordinator to arrange for credit while participating in this 7-month internship.
    • Required GPA of 3.0 or greater.
    • Unofficial transcripts or web transcripts must be submitted with application to be considered for this internship.

    Other Requirements –


    • Good oral and written communication skills, good organizational skills, self-motivation.
    • Background check may be conducted.
    • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
    • Physical requirements:
      • Ability to operate automated equipment and/or hand tools.
      • Work with some odors.
      • Ability to lift and carry heavy (up to 50lbs) and/or awkward items.
      • Be able to stand for the full shift.
