  • Responsibilities

    Every day, in nearly 100 countries around the world, millions of people depend on Daktronics scoring and display systems for information and entertainment. Our displays provide vital travel information in airports and train stations and along highways. They advertise the price of gas, store specials, and more as you make your daily commute. They also enhance spectators’ experiences at sporting events of all kinds, from Little League to the major leagues.


    Position located in Brookings, South Dakota. Candidates must be enrolled and registered as a full-time student. Preferred candidate should be available to work 15-20 hours per week during the academic year and at least 20 hours per week during the summer.


    Our Sourcing philosophy is to build ongoing partnerships with our suppliers.  This is reflected in our Sourcing Mission Statement of Supply Chain development and management focused on long term relationships aligned with corporate initiatives to drive continuous improvement.


    • Will be assigned Strategic Commodity Rationalization activities entailing cost management, item risk mitigation, and supplier reduction.
    • Will be responsible for database integrity used for supplier and item management.
    • Become knowledgeable of purchasing functions, procedures, administration, and maintenance of data.
    • Become knowledgeable of computer reports and scheduling process.
    • Will be required to work with outside suppliers for ordering, expediting, and issuing change orders.
    • Will learn processes for purchase orders, purchase requisitions, price quotes, and Sourcing related item management.
    • Will communicate with internal customers and external suppliers via phone, email, faxes, and meetings.
    • Will write letters, procedures, memos, and create spreadsheets.
    • May choose to work with the Cooperative Education Program at their University and their Faculty Coordinator to arrange for credit while participating in this Apprenticeship and submit a written report to the Purchasing Manager to be reviewed and reserved on file.
    • Become knowledgeable of company policies and procedures.
    • Regularly and reliably work scheduled hours.
    • Other projects and duties as needed or assigned.





    Academic Requirements –


    • The ideal candidate must be a full-time student currently enrolled in accredited Bachelor’s degree program in Business Economics, Mathematics, Operations Management or related degree, in their sophmore, junior or senior year of school.
    • Only strong academic performers will be considered.
    • Must maintain an acceptable GPA.
    • Unofficial transcripts or web transcripts must be submitted with application to be considered for this position.


    Other Requirements –


    • Good computer skills.  Ability to work extensively at the computer. Word and Excel experience required.  Ability to learn Glovia ERP Software.
    • Manufacturing or inventory experience a plus.
    • Good oral and written communication skills, good organizational skills, self-motivation.
    • Background check may be conducted.
    • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
