  • Responsibilities

    Every day, in nearly 100 countries around the world, millions of people depend on Daktronics scoring and display systems for information and entertainment. Our displays provide vital travel information in airports and train stations and along highways. They advertise the price of gas, store specials, and more as you make your daily commute. They also enhance spectators’ experiences at sporting events of all kinds, from Little League to the major leagues.

     

    Position located in Brookings, South Dakota. Candidates must be enrolled and registered as a full-time student. Ideal candidate should be available to work approximately 15-20 hours per week during the academic year and at least 40 hours per week during the summer.

     

    Daktronics Mechanical Design students are responsible for assisting in the design and documentation of computer programmable display systems and the sub-assemblies associated with these products. 

     

    • Produce accurate 3D models, drawings, and documentation for projects using Creo and AutoCAD. Assist Engineers with design, drafting, and bill of material creation.
    • Prepare detailed blueprints of sub-assemblies and parts.
    • Write operation sequences and bill of materials (BOM).
    • Help coordinate the manufacture of systems on project basis.
    • Assist with installations as required.
    • Work with little supervision organize workload efficiently communicate effectively with internal and external customers and make decisions concerning designs when required.
    • Perform other duties as required to support the mechanical engineers.
    • Ability to regularly and reliably work scheduled hours.

     

    Qualifications

     

    • The ideal candidate must be a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related degree and in their sophomore, junior, or senior year of school. Only strong performers in undergraduate coursework will be considered.
    • Class graduate or work experience with AutoCAD and-or Creo preferred.
    • Knowledge of general drafting practices required.
    • Good communication skills.
    • Computer skills and knowledge essential.
    • Knowledge of Daktronics products preferred.  Daktronics manufacturing experience a plus.
    • Ability to travel by both air and ground transportation.  Valid driver's license and good driving record. Motor vehicle records will be checked.
    • Students must maintain an acceptable grade point average.
    • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
    • Background check may be conducted.
