They also enhance spectators’ experiences at sporting events of all kinds, from Little League to the major leagues.

     

    Daktronics manufacturing follows a focus factory concept paralleling these five markets. As a Corporate Automation Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design planning and integration of automated machines automated devices tooling and processes for the manufacturing and development of Daktronics next generation of technology and products.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Have creative ability to come up with multiple design sets in areas of tooling, equipment, and automation concepts including having a working knowledge of automation products.
    • Working closely with internal and external customer and suppliers to integrate automated systems and to formulate reliable tooling and equipment solutions.
    • Develop and implement high quality designs and robust processes that provide reliability and repeatability for manufacturing.
    • Coordinate and implement solutions with Product Design engineers and Factory engineers in areas such as machine and tooling design along with layout verification to ensure that manufacturing design capabilities meet the product needs and will fit seamlessly into assembly flow lines.
    • Assist direct implementation of appropriate control plans and inspection methods to maintain process controls.
    • Recommend process improvements to streamline product flow and be responsible for implementation of process improvements/lean manufacturing concepts within all factories.
    • Project Management skills to effective lead a team of people to carry out and execute a plan that includes coordinating various details with specific factory while clearly communicating detailed updates on progress updates.
    • Have ability to present detailed implementation plans for life cycle of tooling including required timing resources and purchased parts for specific projects.
    • Work effectively as a team member with little supervision, be flexible to help when and where needed, and communicate effectively with customers and team members. Consistently complete quality work in a timely manner.
    • Perform other duties as assigned and needed to meet customer and or department expectations.
    • Develop and create support documents for equipment and related manual and automated processes.

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Technology or comparable degree.
    • Fluent in English both written and verbal. Communicate effectively in a team environment.
    • Ability to communicate, collaborate, and interact with a variety of manufacturing and engineering employees in a positive professional manner.
    • Microsoft Office computer software experience and abilities.
    • Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment including seeking input from others to establish a unified direction.
    • Coachable personality that seeks and receives input to continue to grow in knowledge and professional skills in relationship to self and how to apply the feedback to be positive and impactful on the Daktronics organization.
    • Physical Requirements include:
      • The ability to lift and carry heavy (up to 45 pounds) and/or awkward items.
      • Must be able to stand and/or sit for the full shift and have full range of motion as required for the position.
      • Required to distinguish and identify colors (wires, paint, etc) as it pertains to projects with the position.
      • Work with some odors associated with a manufacturing environment (paint, solder, welding coating, etc).
    • Follow all safety guidelines in respective work areas including wearing respective equipment as required. Items may include the following: safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, hearing protection, protective garments, etc.
    • Travel to remote factories is required. Motor vehicle records will be checked to verify valid drivers license and acceptable driving record.
    • Background check will be conducted.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Ability to design tooling in Creo environment.
    • Understanding of Soldering Processes is a plus and how it relates to our overall manufacturing.
    • Knowledge or capacity to learn the system controls, capability, and programming of many different types of Through Hole and SMT equipment.
