    Every day, in nearly 100 countries around the world, millions of people depend on Daktronics scoring and display systems for information and entertainment. Our displays provide vital travel information in airports and train stations and along highways. They advertise the price of gas, store specials, and more as you make your daily commute. They also enhance spectators’ experiences at sporting events of all kinds, from Little League to the major leagues.


    The student program provides students with an opportunity to gain valuable work experience while earning a degree. Candidates must be enrolled and registered as a full-time student. Preferred candidate should be available to work 15-20 hours per week during the academic year and at least 20 hours per week, up to full-time, during the summer.


    The Lean Manufacturing Organization within Daktronics provides leadership and project management skills to successfully implement Lean concepts across the Manufacturing Division, which consists of 7 domestic and 2 international factories, as well as support departments.


    As a Daktronics Student Employee, you will get an opportunity to shadow an experienced Daktronics Lean practitioner and apply classroom knowledge in the following areas:

    • Assist with problem solving to identify and eliminate waste within our manufacturing and business processes
    • Develop Lean Management System concepts and tools to be used by Lean Leaders throughout the company
    • Work with various functions throughout Manufacturing to assure Lean techniques are being deployed consistently
    • Collect and analyze data to support Lean initiatives
    • Work with various teams to complete identified actions that support continuous improvement activities
    • Assist with the development of plant layout schemes to improve material handling and process flow
    • Design, prototype, and develop workstations to optimize work processes and to enhance safety of the operation
    • Assist with the creation and presentation of training as it relates to Lean concepts
    • Perform other duties as assigned to meet internal and external customer expectations.


    Academic Requirements:

    • The preferred candidate will be a full-time student currently enrolled in accredited Bachelor’s degree program in Operations Management, Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
    • The preferred candidate will be in their sophomore or junior year of school
    • Only strong academic performers will be considered
    • Must maintain an acceptable GPA
    • Unofficial or web transcripts must be submitted with application to be considered for this position.

    Other Requirements:

    • Strong computer skills and Microsoft Office knowledge is essential
    • Good technical writing and verbal communication skills required. Fluent in English both written and verbal.
    • Good analytical and organizational skills required
    • Ability to collaborate as a team member, with little supervision, and communicate effectively across the organization
    • Consistently complete quality work in a timely manner
    • Physical Requirements include the ability to:
      • Lift and carry up to 45 pounds.
      • Distinguish and identify wire colors.
      • Ability to work with odors (solder/coating).
    • Travel to remote factories may be required
    • Valid driver’s license and good driving record. Motor vehicle records will be checked
    • Background check will be conducted
