Every day, in nearly 100 countries around the world, millions of people depend on Daktronics scoring and display systems for information and entertainment. Our displays provide vital travel information in airports and train stations and along highways. They advertise the price of gas, store specials, and more as you make your daily commute. They also enhance spectators’ experiences at sporting events of all kinds, from Little League to the major leagues. 

 

This position will be responsible to supervise a production area in the High School Park and Rec Factory.

 

  • Supervise production for a value stream in the HSPR Factory.
    • This includes executing production plans and determining staffing and equipment based on projected workload requirements.
    • Audits line regularly to verify work is being done to work instructions within planned cycle time safely.  Identifies concerns and develops countermeasures to maintain production schedule.
    • Leads the value stream team in the development of the Value Stream theory of operation to describe how the line is intended to operate. Uses this as a measuring stick to determine lines performance and identify concern early.
    • Review loading and verify capacities
    • Identify opportunities for improvements and help develop plans for continuously improving the line performance.
    • Identify and correct safety concerns.
    • Work with production team leads and line leads to develop performance goals training and flexibility plans and adjust manning.
  • Be actively involved in lean efforts for continuous improvements.  Identify wastes and use lean tools to eliminate simplify or automate to improve productivity reduce costs improve working conditions or eliminate safety concerns.  
  • Responsible for ongoing evaluation of employee performance motivation and discipline of employees.  Conduct formal performance evaluations timely and objectively. Identify and groom future leaders in manufacturing.
  • Ensure safety during shift.  May need to take injured employees for treatment and or appointments. Assist in developing safe operating procedures for machines equipment.
  • Foster teamwork through effective communication to staff and other departments as well as to promote the relationship between quality workmanship customer service and customer satisfaction.
  • Hire or assist in hiring coordinate training plan for new employees as well as existing employees gain a thorough knowledge and be able to train employees on:
    • Work order flow routing and delivery
    • Quality reporting
    • Work procedures and test procedures
    • Equipment
    • Daktronics policies and procedures.
  • Provide leadership in the continuous improvement process work with the HSPR leadership team Lean Manufacturing team and Manufacturing Engineering to improve procedures and processes and to reduce scrap and rework.
  • Work with the leadership team to improve procedures and processes to reduce scrap and rework. Encourage employees to participate in the continuous improvement process.
  • Participate in budgeting and planning of the HSPR factory.
  • Represent the company and department positively and effectively in all situations.
  • Become a main representative point of contact for department in the absence of the plant manager.
  • Perform other duties as needed to meet customer expectations.

Qualifications

  • BS degree required. Emphasis on Engineering (Manufacturing) Industrial Management or similar preferred. Comparable Daktronics experience may be considered.
  • Training and supervisory experience preferred.  Supervision in a Manufacturing environment preferred. Demonstrated leadership ability required.  
  • Good technical writing and verbal communication skills required. Must be fluent in English both written and verbal.  Ability to make group presentations.
  • Computer skills Glovia Word Excel PowerPoint and Microsoft Office.
  • Physical Requirements include the ability to:
    • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds and or awkward items
    • Ability to stand sit for a full 10hour shift 5.3. Distinguish and identify wire and paint colors
    • Read fine print with or without the use of corrective lenses
    • Have a full range of motion (bending, lifting, reaching, working with some small parts with repetition)
    • Reach in all directions and potentially in awkward positions
    • Work with odors (solder paint solvent manufacturing odors)
    • Maintain hand eye coordination
  • Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • Ability to successfully participate as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude be inquisitive innovative assertive self motivated and goal oriented. Ability to lead a team to effectively organize work to work under time pressures and to solve problems and seek improvement.
  • Knowledge of Industrial Safety.
  • Knowledge of Daktronics products and operations.
  • Ability to travel by air and ground. Valid driver's license and good driving record. Motor vehicle records will be checked.
  • Background check will be conducted.
