At Daktronics the Legal Department is seen as a strategic business partner. We engage in responsibilities that support our business in compliance and evaluating legal risk. Our work goes beyond mere legal review but includes negotiating, drafting and analyzing a wide variety of licensing, sales, consulting and representative agreements.


Daktronics is currently seeking a law student between their second and third year to join our team for the summer of 2018 as our Legal Intern.


  • As a Legal Intern your primary focus will be on special projects which will require you to flex your legal research and writing skills in order to draft best practice guides for use by the legal and business teams.
  • In addition, you will assist in the review, drafting and negotiation of sales contracts and other agreements and work with staff counsel to analyze risk on commerical transactions.
  • There will be a strong need for you to summarize and communicate legal concepts for use by business people.
  • We continually strive for process improvement and value your opinion on how we can do things better (following Lean Office principles).



Academic Requirements -

  • Working towards a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school along with excellent academic credentials. Preference is given to students between their second and third year.
  • Unofficial transcripts or web transcripts must be submitted with application to be considered for this internship.
  • Able to take a semester off from school to complete the internship, if applicable.

  • Continued willingness and desire to learn and be flexible with an evolving workload and working on a broad variety of legal matters.
  • Strong organizational skills where you’ve managed multiple and changing priorities with accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills showing collaboration with others and building effective relationships.
  • Superior English language written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to following policies and procedures and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Must be able to commit to 40 hours per week.
  • An acceptable background and motor vehicle record. Background check will be conducted.
