Our displays provide vital travel information in airports and train stations and along highways. They advertise the price of gas, store specials, and more as you make your daily commute. They also enhance spectators’ experiences at sporting events of all kinds, from Little League to the major leagues.


This student position is located in Brookings, South Dakota.  A candidate must be enrolled and registered as a full-time student. Ideal candidate should be available to work approximately 15-20 hours per week during the academic year and at least 20 hours per week during the summer.


Daktronics is looking for a highly motivated student who is looking to learn analytical strategies and techniques that support continuous improvement initiatives. Working with the Business Analytics team, they will discover, prepare, and analyze data from across the enterprise to present fact based insights and visualizations that lead to data driven decisions. The Business Analytics student will work under the mentorship of the Business Analytics team in supporting active analytical projects including Dashboard initiatives. 


As a Business Analytics Developer Student you would work close with our Business Analytics team to: 

  • Deliver solutions that support data driven decisions through analytical best practices, governance, capabilities, and technology/tools. 
  • Solve business problems using data analysis and visualization. 
  • Develop re-usable datasets that support Self-Service Business Intelligence and corporate continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Provide support for users in the business developing datasets and reports for the Self-Service Business Intelligence initiative. 
  • Discover, design, develop, document, and maintain corporate datasets, reports, and dashboards while following standards and best practices. 
  • Troubleshoot data issues with production dashboards and analytical solutions. 
  • Reinforce the Daktronics Guiding Principle that Data is an Asset as part of the Business Analytics team and the entire Data Program. 


Academic Requirements-

  • The preferred candidate will be a full-time student currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor or Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems or related fields.  
  • The preferred candidate will be in their sophomore or junior year of school

  • Only strong academic performers will be considered

  • Must maintain an acceptable GPA

  • Unofficial transcripts or web transcripts must be submitted with application to be considered for this position.

Other Requirements-

  • Understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices. 
  • Understanding of techniques, processes, and languages (TSQL or PL/SQL) for accessing data from structured environments. 
  • Experience with any programming language, preference given to applicants with experience using R, Python, DAX. 
  • Ability to understand and take direction on solving complex business information problems. 
  • Ability to clearly communicate insights from data analysis. 
  • Good oral and written communication skills, good organizational skills, self-motivation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills. 
  • Fluent in English, written and verbal. 
  • Background check may be conducted.
