Responsibilities

Every day, in nearly 100 countries around the world, millions of people depend on Daktronics scoring and display systems for information and entertainment. Our displays provide vital travel information in airports and train stations and along highways. They advertise the price of gas, store specials, and more as you make your daily commute. They also enhance spectators’ experiences at sporting events of all kinds, from Little League to the major leagues.

 

As a Daktronics intern, you will get an opportunity to shadow an experienced Daktronics engineer and apply classroom knowledge. We are seeking a dedicated and highly motivated individual who is not only interested in developing professionally, but also drawn to being able to play an active role in the world’s leader in Large Format Electronic Display Systems.

 

Internship runs from January 2018 - August 2018.

 

Some of the primary responsibilities of this position include: 

  • Involvement with product development efforts.
  • Collect and interpret data from engineering tests.
  • Creo and other CAD support of product developments.
  • Hands on Engineering and prototyping on new designs.
  • Work effectively as a team member.
  • Work with little supervision.
  • Help where and when needed.
  • Make and implement suggestions for product and process involvement; communicate effectively with team members.
  • Use good judgments in difficult situations and make good decisions.
  • Perform other duties as required to support Video Products Engineering.
  • Regularly and reliably work the scheduled shift.

Qualifications

Academic Requirements – 

  • The preferred candidate will be a fulltime student of at least junior status currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree program in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering, or those students who will complete the internship starting in the semester immediately following undergraduate Bachelor's degree program.
  • Able to take a semester off from school to complete the internship, if applicable.
  • Must be able to commit to 40 hours per week.
  • Work through the Cooperative Education Internship Program with accredited university and Faculty Coordinator to arrange for credit while participating in this 7-month internship.
  • Required GPA of 3.0 or greater.
  • Unofficial transcripts or web transcripts must be submitted with application to be considered for this internship.

Other Requirements –

  • Knowledge of general drafting practices required. Solid modeling experience preferred.
  • Dedication and desire for quality performance. 
  • Organizational, planning, and problem solving skills.
  • Computer and keyboarding skills essential.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to travel by air and ground. Valid driver's license and good driving record. Motor vehicle records will be checked.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, good organizational skills, self-motivation.

  • Background check may be conducted.

  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
